As a District Manager in the Correctional Food Service, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the food service operations within a designated district or region. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of food services to correctional facilities while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and compliance with relevant regulations. You will lead a team of food service professionals, collaborate with correctional facility staff, and implement strategies to achieve operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

We deliver meals, beverages, and self-care managed through a Cellmate proprietary, industry leading software application, provided through the kitchen and are looking for a District Manager who will support the Operations team in managing wellbeing and all compliance, culinary, hygiene, and safety-related tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, without limitation:
- Leadership and Team Management:
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to a team of food service managers and staff within the district.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, professional development, and employee engagement.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training needs to enhance team members’ skills and performance.
- Operational Oversight:
- Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient and effective food service delivery in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of food service operations, including food preparation, production, service, and sanitation, to maintain high standards of quality, safety, and cleanliness.
- Conduct regular site visits and inspections to correctional facilities within the district to assess compliance with established standards, regulations, and contractual requirements.
- Budgeting and Cost Control:
- Manage the financial aspects of the district, including budget development, cost control, and revenue generation.
- Monitor expenses, analyze financial reports, and identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.
- Collaborate with the finance department to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with relevant local, state, and federal regulations governing food service operations in correctional facilities.
- Implement and monitor quality assurance programs, including regular audits and inspections, to maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, and nutritional quality.
- Address any deficiencies or non-compliance issues promptly, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Customer Relations:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with correctional facility staff, addressing their concerns and ensuring their satisfaction with the food service operations.
- Collaborate with customers to understand their needs, preferences, and feedback, implementing improvements and enhancements to enhance customer experience.
Requirements to include:
- Proven experience in managing food service operations, preferably in a correctional or institutional setting.
- Strong knowledge of food service regulations, safety, and sanitation practices.
- Knowledge of state and government regulations and Department of Correction’s standards is a plus.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement operational strategies and achieve performance goals.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- The ability to manage in a diverse environment while placing a priority on client and customer satisfaction.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in financial management, budgeting, and cost control.
- Ability to travel within the designated district as required.
